Wowie! What a week we had!!! For any of you who weren't watching via social media or weren't able to attend Congress this year, the Silicon Valley Chapter was very well represented in Las Vegas during the week of May 4th through 8th. Mary Brumm, CPP, was a speaker at multiple sessions. Jean Bateh received recognition for volunteering on the APA's Social Networking Committee. Carol Philpott, CPP, won a lovely door prize at the Chapter Exchange. The entire chapter won Honorable Mention in the Chapter of the Year competition (that ranks us as one of the top six chapters in the entire country!!!)
And the Region 3 Tribute, your SVAPA Chapter President, became the one and only Payroll Games Victor! It was a fantastic time, and I hope you had/have a chance to browse through all of the photos on the Congress Facebook page. Next year, Congress will be held in Nashville, TN. Be sure to register early for the discount!
Virtual Congres begins on Wednesday, May 13th, which offers APA members an opportunity to earn additional RCH credits, whether you attended Congress in Las Vegas or not. If you cannot attend the live version of Virtual Congress, never fear! The American Payroll Association is making it available through August 14th so you still have an opportunity to earn up to 9 RCH credits! http://www.americanpayroll.org/congress/vc-landing/
Be sure to register for the California Payroll Conference, Your Passport to Payroll Excellence, before the end of this month to take advantage of some serious savings! The conference is on October 8th and 9th at the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, and will be here before you know it. This conference offers up to 12 RCH credits in two days! http://californiapayroll.org/index.php
Stay tuned and check in on our WWW.SVAPA.ORG website for CPP/FPC Study Group registration which we will begin offering again very soon. Please know that registration for these study groups will be available only for those who are preparing to take the exams. If there is enough interest, I would be happy to organize other types of learning sessions for those members seeking or needing recertification credits, just not in the CPP/FPC study group setting.
Hope to see you all at the June 18th chapter meeting at Heritage Bank Plaza in downtown San Jose, hosted by Ryan, LLC., where we will have Mindy Mayo speaking to us about 2015 Payroll Tax Matters.
Wishing you an amazing May!
Christine Stolpe, CPP
